What BooksCheck does, what it never does, and the deal — in plain words. Service starts with a short signed engagement letter that states the same scope; if anything here ever differs from your signed letter, the letter controls.
What the service is
A monthly review of the books you already keep. By the 7th of each month you receive a one-page review: profit-and-loss and cash-flow summaries, odd expenses flagged in plain English, overdue invoices listed with payment reminders drafted for you to send, and anything tax-shaped flagged as a question for your CPA. Your tier adds the extras listed in the pricing section — trend notes, reminder drafts twice a month, a quarterly roll-up.
What it is not
BooksCheck is a review service. It is not accounting, tax preparation, tax advice, or financial planning. We never prepare or file tax returns, never decide how anything should be treated at tax time, never run payroll, never represent you in a tax matter, never make payments or move your money, and never provide assurance or attestation work. Anything in your books that looks like a tax question is written up as a flag for your CPA — your CPA answers it.
First month free, founding rates
Your first month is free. Founding rates — $99, $129, or $149 a month by tier — are locked for 12 months. After that, rates are reviewed once a year, with 30 days’ notice before any change.
Billing and cancellation
Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. There is no onboarding fee during the founding period, and your QuickBooks subscription stays yours — BooksCheck never resells it. The service is month-to-month: cancel anytime with 30 days’ notice, and your final month is prorated.
By the 7th — or the month is free
Every one-pager passes a human verification pass before it ships. If we miss the 7th, that month costs you nothing — no form, no call, nothing to claim.
Your part
Provide timely, read-only access, and tell us if something in your books is incomplete — the review can only cover what is there. You send the payment reminders we draft. Tax questions go to your CPA or tax preparer.
No guarantees
A review is a second set of eyes, not a check of every transaction: we work from the records you keep and the access you grant, and we do not guarantee that every error or problem in your books will be caught. BooksCheck gives no guarantee of any financial outcome.
